KubeCon + CloudNativeCon China 2025: A Look Back at the Future of Cloud Native
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) community recently gathered in Hong Kong for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon China 2025, a two-day event (June 10-11) that once again proved to be a vibrant hub for open source and cloud native enthusiasts. The conference brought together a diverse group of adopters and technologists, showcasing the rapid innovation and growth within the cloud native ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
A Glimpse into the Cloud Native Future
The energy was palpable from the start, with a large number of first-time attendees filling the halls. This speaks volumes about the expanding reach of cloud native technologies and the growing community in China. The conference schedule was packed with keynotes, breakout sessions, and lightning talks, covering a wide range of topics, with a notable focus on the intersection of cloud native and Artificial Intelligence.
Keynotes from industry leaders set the tone for the event, highlighting the latest trends and challenges. Speakers from organizations like DaoCloud, WasmEdge, and Ant Group shared their insights on topics ranging from optimizing AI workloads to building scalable local LLM infrastructure. This emphasis on AI reflected a key theme throughout the conference: how cloud native principles and technologies, such as Kubernetes and WebAssembly, are becoming fundamental for deploying and managing modern AI and GenAI workloads.
Deep Dives and Community Connection
Beyond the main stage, attendees had the opportunity to dive deep into a variety of topics through technical sessions and maintainer tracks. These sessions offered a platform for project leaders and end users to share their experiences and best practices. From discussions on multi-cluster orchestration with Karmada to exploring the latest advancements in projects like Backstage and LitmusChaos, there was no shortage of technical content for every level of expertise.
The event also fostered invaluable community connections. The Project Pavilion was a constant hive of activity, where attendees could engage directly with project maintainers and learn about the latest developments in CNCF projects. The Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions provided a more intimate setting for focused discussions, with a particularly engaging session on Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) in China. These interactions underscored the collaborative spirit that is the bedrock of the open source world.
For those who couldn’t attend or want to revisit their favorite talks, all 84 conference sessions were recorded. You can view the videos on the official CNCF YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj6h78yzYM2P1xtALqTcCmRAa6142uERl.
